After months of speculation, several weeks of free agent excitement, and hundreds of mock drafts, the possibilities for the Dallas Cowboys in the 2020 draft have become clear, at least in the first round. Early in the draft speculation process, many mock drafts had the Cowboys drafting safety first, either Grant Delpit of LSU, or Xavier McKinney from Alabama.
But since the free-agent period began, Dallas’s priorities have changed. They’ve lost Pro Bowl cornerback Byron Jones, wide receiver Randall Cobb, and defensive end Robert Quinn, among others. Plus, All-Pro center Travis Frederick retired.
Meanwhile, they’ve signed defensive tackles Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy, safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, reserve cornerback Maurice Canady, and most recently, former Pro Bowl defensive end Aldon Smith, who hasn’t played in the NFL since 2015.
