The running back situation for the Dallas Cowboys has been a hot mess this season. After losing Tony Pollard in free agency, the team decided to play it cheap and not go after any of the possible impact free agent backs to take his place. Instead, the team spent a few shekels to acquire the services of Ezekiel Elliott, Royce Freeman, and eventually Dalvin Cook. Needless to say, none of these veterans amounted to much in the running game.
While those guys were auditioning for the role of complementary back alongside Rico Dowdle, the team eventually went away from the tag-team approach giving Dowdle the keys to the team’s rushing attack.
