Joe DeLamielleure was in San Antonio in January 2007 to be enshrined along with Gale Sayers, Randy White and Paul Warfield in the East-West Shrine Game Hall of Fame.
DeLamielleure was an All-America guard at Michigan State who became a first-round pick of the Buffalo Bills and would go on to have a Pro Football Hall of Fame career. Warfield, who was a special advisor with the Cleveland Browns at the time, pulled him aside and asked DeLamielleure to eyeball some of the offensive linemen playing in the game.
"We're looking for a solid player, not necessarily a high draft pick, someone who can make our team," Warfield told him.
