What happened when a Cowboys safety became a kicker: 'I didn't even know where the ball was going to go'

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - While drama regularly encompasses the Cowboys on and off the field, it rarely extends to extra points.

Kicker Dan Bailey is why - he's 266 of 266 during his seven-season career.

But on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas abruptly had to turn to safety Jeff Heath for its PATs and kickoffs. Bailey injured his groin while kicking the ball into the net on the sideline during the first half.

Heath hit two of three extra-point attempts and handled five kickoffs in the 40-10 victory at Levi's Stadium.

He made his first extra-point try in the third quarter after Ezekiel Elliott's 72-yard touchdown catch-and-run.
