Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is set for clavicle surgery next week, and he opted Friday to have a plate inserted for protection.
Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan in Dallas reported Romo's intention after missing 12 games last season due to a broken collarbone.
Romo suffered two collarbone breaks in 2015 and previously broke it in 2010. Per NFL.com's Marc Sessler, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the plate will be screwed into Romo's clavicle with an eye toward preventing additional breaks moving forward.
According to David Moore of the Dallas Morning News, the expected recovery time is six to eight weeks, which means the veteran signal-caller has a good chance to be ready when organized team activities begin in May.
