SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Receiver Terrell Owens, who played the first eight seasons of his 15-year career with the San Francisco 49ers, was named one of 15 modern-era finalists for Pro Football Hall of Fame consideration Thursday night.
Former 49ers owner Eddie DeBartolo is also a finalist as a contributor, as are Ken Stabler and Dick Stanfel as senior nominees, meaning the total of 18 finalists will be voted upon by the 46-person selection committee on Feb. 6 in San Francisco. A candidate must receive at least 80 percent approval from the committee to gain inclusion to the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio; classes must be between four and eight new members.
