OXNARD, Calif. — Stephen Jones explained Sunday why his father didn’t fly to Canton, Ohio, over the weekend to be there for defensive end Charles Haley’s Hall of Fame enshrinement.
Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Friday he was still considering flying to Ohio for the ceremony but knew it might not be possible because of his recent hip replacement surgery.
“He can fly, but they want it to be few and far between and unfortunately he has to be at an NFL meeting,” Stephen Jones said, “and then you take back-to-back flights, it gets difficult.”
Jerry Jones is expected to fly to Illinois on Tuesday for a special league meeting.
