Stephen Jones addresses Earl Thomas situation, Cowboys' safety position at opening of training camp

OXNARD, Calif. -- With Seattle star safety Earl Thomas holding out of Seahawks training camp, the speculation that Dallas could end up securing him via trade isn't going away. So, indirectly and directly, Thomas indeed came up during the annual news conference that kicks off the start of Cowboys training camp.

Executive vice president Stephen Jones said the team last had discussions with Seattle about Thomas around the NFL draft in late April.

If the Seahawks' asking price for Thomas -- who originally is from Texas and famously told Cowboys coach Jason Garrett to come and get him after a game last December -- at the time was indeed too high, the situation could evolve as Thomas tries to force a trade.
