Source: Dallas Cowboys also releasing QB Dustin Vaughan as final cuts made Saturday

The Dallas Cowboys informed third-string quarterback Dustin Vaughan on Saturday morning that he is being released, according to a source.

Also, as reported earlier, the Cowboys have released fourth-string QB Jameill Showers.

That means the Cowboys aren’t likely to carry a third quarterback on their roster this season, at least early on. Last year, the Cowboys kept Vaughan on their roster the entire season.

The Cowboys have to get their roster down to the 53-man limit by the 3 p.m. Saturday deadline. They have two quarterbacks remaining on their roster: starter Tony Romo and backup Brandon Weeden.
