OXNARD, Calif. -- When it comes to Cowboys defensive lineman David Irving, it's always something.
Irving will miss the start of training camp in Southern California, a source said, but has been excused by the Cowboys. It's uncertain if he'll report during the three-plus weeks the team is here, beginning with its touchdown Tuesday at LAX, followed by a police-escorted trip up to Oxnard in a line of charter buses.
Irving has been dealing with a spate of off-field issues, including being suspended for the first four games of the season for the second-straight season, this time for violation of the NFL's substance abuse policy.
