OXNARD, Calif. — Stephen F. Austin’s Gus Johnson will likely be the Cowboys’ starting running back Thursday in their preseason opener at San Diego.
The Cowboys hope to replace 2014 rushing champion DeMarco Murray with a three-man committee.
None of them practiced Monday.
Joseph Randle was the latest to stand off to the side. He started practice Monday but was forced to the sidelines early with a strained oblique muscle on his right side.
Early on, Randle was between the practice fields twisting his hips while someone with the Cowboys’ medical staff massaged his lower right side.
