2018 did not go as planned for All-Pro center Travis Frederick. Just a few weeks before the start of the regular season, Frederick was being held out of training camp practices due to at the time what was being called “stingers” or “back spasms”. Little did he, or the team, know that they had a much more serious issue on their hands.
In August, Frederick was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, a disorder in which the immune system attacks the body’s nervous system in response to illness. Both the Cowboys and Frederick were holding out hope that he would be able to return to the field in 2018, but unfortunately that was not the case, and he was placed on IR in October.
