OXNARD, Calif. -- The horn sounds, signaling an end to one practice period at Dallas Cowboys training camp, and the work begins.
Not for the 90 players in camp. But for Will McClay’s scouting staff.
For the next few minutes, the scouts have to do some sort of physical activity -- pushups, situps, planks, sprints, jumping jacks -- until the next period begins. Even McClay, the Cowboys’ vice president of player personnel, gets involved, which is a little more difficult for him because of a torn Achilles he suffered in June.
