Oxnard, Calif. -- Owner Jerry Jones became emotional Tuesday evening when pressed on whether he felt regret over releasing receiver Lucky Whitehead over what turned out to be a bogus shoplifting charge by Virginia police.
Jones said he wouldn't articulate his parameters for the release of Whitehead or any other player. But he was clearly bothered that his judgment and that of the club is being questioned on this matter.
"I'm not going to talk about Lucky,'' Jones said. "I'm going to talk about players.
"I've never talked to a player that I didn't have empathy.
