INDIANAPOLIS -- It won't change the outcome of a game played three years ago, but the NFL's competition committee is in the beginning stages of changing the catch rule, so overturned receptions like Dez Bryant's in the 2014 playoffs will be considered catches going forward.
Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones, one of eight members on the league's competition committee, said Tuesday from the scouting combine that improvements are on the way.
"I think it will simplify it personally," Jones said. "Of course, we don't have the solution yet. It's hard to know for sure until we write it and make sure it passes all the tests, and go from there.
