FRISCO -- Frisco police on Thursday released additional information to The Dallas Morning News on the Friday night arrest of Cowboys tight end Rico Gathers on a marijuana possession charge.
The arrest became public Saturday morning, hours before the team had to cut the roster from 90 to 53 players. The Cowboys stuck with Gathers despite the incident, with team owner Jerry Jones saying this week that the misdemeanor wasn't enough cause to change the team's mind. Gathers has released a public apology.
Officers on bike patrol about 10 p.m., according to the police report, detected a strong odor of burning marijuana at Central Park in Frisco.
