Once upon a time the Dallas Cowboys were an aggressive team in free agency. That came to an end, though. Any idea that the Cowboys will pounce on this, that or the other player is generated only by national narratives and not by anyone who has been paying attention since Brand Carr’s deal back in 2012 spooked this front office. The Cowboys have been relatively silent in free agency for over a decade now and have chosen to focus on building primarily through the NFL draft.
It goes without saying that this method can be effective in building a championship-winning team, but in looking across the NFL, and specifically at its new champions in the Philadelphia Eagles, you would have a difficult time arguing against the merits of free agency.
