Late-game woes have troubled Cowboys defense all season

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys' season has essentially been the same story each week. The offense struggles to do much of anything. The defense holds it together for the most part and fails to make a play when it matters most.

Mix it together and you have a dry Christmas cake … or a 4-10 record.

Take the Cowboys' last game against the New York Jets.

With 1:55 to play after a tying field goal by Dan Bailey, the defense gave up an eight-play, 58-yard drive that included a 43-yard catch by Kenbrell Thompkins and ended with a 40-yard field goal by Randy Bullock with 36 seconds to play for a 19-16 loss.
