FRISCO, Texas – Tight end Geoff Swaim underwent surgery this week for a foot fracture and could be sidelined until training camp.
The injury occurred during a personal workout without Cowboys coaches present. The team’s voluntary offseason program begins in mid-April, and training camp typically begins in mid-to-late August.
Swaim, a seventh-round pick in 2015, emerged as a reliable blocker and receiving option at tight end last season. He caught six passes for 69 yards in the first nine games before a pectoral injury landed him on injured reserve for the rest of the season.
Swaim’s injury left Jason Witten and Gavin Escobar as the only healthy tight ends on the roster.
