OXNARD, Calif. -- The players from the Dominican Republic weren't quite sure who Byron Jones was. They just saw him in a Frisco RoughRiders T-shirt and cap and a pair of sweatpants one day for batting practice and weren't sure if he was a new teammate.
"They don't know football," RoughRiders manager Joe Mikulik said. "They don't know the top guys. I told them he was a No. 1 pick by the Cowboys. Estrella. NFL. And they were like, ‘Oh, OK.'"
One day before training camp began, Jones, the Dallas Cowboys' safety, spent time shagging balls with the Texas Rangers' Double-A affiliate during batting practice.
