If Cowboys lose to Philadelphia, this may be the only move Jason Garrett can make to keep his job

FRISCO -- Jason Garrett had a curious response earlier this week when asked if there was a scenario in which he would assume the play-calling duties.

"Right now,'' the Cowboys head coach said, "Scott Linehan is going to call the plays on offense.''

No elaboration. End of thought.

Next question.

This tepid endorsement of a man who has called plays since his arrival in 2014 speaks more to Garrett's uncertain fate than it does to a loss of confidence in the offensive coordinator. It's a clear signal that Garrett and his coaching staff are aware of what's at stake in these final eight games.
