Hey, Dallas plays defense, too! Breaking down reasons for Cowboys' improvement on D

FRISCO -- When asked to explain their early season success, many Cowboys defensive players immediately give credit to the offense. They talk about how long drives have given them extra rest. They mention how taking care of the football on offense has prevented the defense from having to defend short fields.

But only one of those two has been significantly better from a year ago when Dallas opened the season 2-4. The time of possession is almost identical. The turnovers are another story. This year's offense has turned the ball over only five times. Last season, the Cowboys turned it over 12 times through their first six games.
