CANTON, Ohio -- The magnitude of what is about to happen started to hit Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones on Friday afternoon.
In a room reserved only for members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Jones was welcomed to the group at the Ray Nitschke Luncheon.
Charles Haley, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin spoke on Jones’ behalf. He sat at lunch with Smith, Lawrence Taylor and Eric Dickerson. Jones had been to the luncheon one time before when he served as Irvin’s presenter, but the rules have changed to where the Hall of Famers and inductees are the only ones welcome.
