Former NFL exec: It's worth it for Cowboys to trade up for Derwin James; 'He's special'

While most are trying to figure out how the Cowboys will replace Dez Bryant in next week's NFL draft, we're briefly turning our attention to safety.

Byron Jones made it official Monday: He's moving from safety to cornerback. Dallas will likely carry four safeties. The current depth chart consists of Jeff Heath, Xavier Woods and Kavon Frazier.

Trading for veteran All-Pro Earl Thomas would certainly fill that spot.

But so would moving up to pick Florida State's Derwin James, considered by many to be the best safety in this draft class. A move into the top 10 from 19 would be costly, though.
