First Irving, now Carroll: Cowboys aren't off to good start replacing leadership lost in free agency

The Cowboys move into the second week of organized team activities at The Star. That can mean only one thing:

Another defensive player is in trouble.

Nolan Carroll is currently the source of consternation. The cornerback's arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated comes only a few days after reports surfaced that David Irving faces a four-game suspension for taking an over the counter performance enhancing drug that's banned by the NFL.

These episodes lead to glib observations like the one to begin this story. Since the Cowboys will open the season without a key defensive contributor for the fourth consecutive year it feeds the growing, and somewhat misleading, narrative that this team can't keep its players out of trouble.
