OXNARD, Calif. — Helicopters cirlced overhead to drop water on a brush fire Tuesday afternoon in a riverbed near the Dallas Cowboys practice facility that sent fumes of smoke over the practice fields even caught the attention of coach Jason Garrett.
Garrett walked away from the Cowboys practice facility to see what all the commotion was all about as helicopters circled overhead.
The fire didn’t provide an immediate threat to the Cowboys practice fields or the team hotel here, but the risk is there because of the extremely dry conditions in California.
The fire started about an hour after the Cowboys finished their morning practice at the Marriott Residence Inn/River Ridge hotel here.
