While the Dallas Cowboys front office and coaching staff are celebrating the influx of talent added during and after the NFL draft, a few of the team's veterans are preparing for the competition of their lives.
The finite nature of NFL rosters means that for every new addition to the roster, another veteran could be without a job come final cutdowns.
Oftentimes, it's not even a fair competition. Since the NFL has a hard salary cap, teams are looking to lower the collective cap hit of their players at every turn. If a veteran and rookie perform comparatively during training camp and the preseason, the team will almost always sacrifice experience to get a younger player with a cheaper contract on the books.
