ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper has switched his projected first pick for the Cowboys from a defensive player to a possible Tony Romo successor in Jared Goff.
In his latest mock draft, Kiper has Goff, a quarterback out of California, going to Dallas with the No. 4 pick. He previously had the Cowboys taking defensive end DeForest Buckner of Oregon. Instead, he's now projected to go third to the Chargers.
Straight from the words of Kiper:
"This is going to be a fascinating situation. On one hand, the Dallas front office isn't the least bit delusional if they look at the roster with a healthy Tony Romo and believe they can compete for a playoff spot, which makes it harder to take a QB who might not see the field for a couple of years.
