Welterweight titlist Errol Spence Jr. grew up in the Dallas area as a huge Cowboys fan.
He still is one.
So, when he arrived at the kickoff news conference for his mandatory defense against Carlos Ocampo on Wednesday, along with members of the famed Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, he was, naturally, dressed in a suit of Cowboys blue and white.
The fight on June 16 (Showtime) will headline the first boxing event to take place inside the 12,000-seat Ford Center at The Star, the Cowboys' training facility and team headquarters in Frisco, Texas. And Spence sounded genuinely excited to announce his first hometown fight since 2015 and to have the Cowboys involved in the event.
