After taking UCF defensive tackle Trysten Hill in the second round, it seemed as if the Cowboys would look to the third round for a safety. But as their pick came on the clock with Chauncey Gardner-Johnson and Amani Hooker, among others, still on the board, Dallas made the surprising move to take an offensive lineman in Penn State’s Connor McGovern.
Connor McGovern was announced as a guard by former Cowboys offensive lineman Rayfield Wright, and he was rated the tenth best interior lineman in the draft by The Draft Network.
Of course, it was on this day of the draft one year ago when the Cowboys drafted another guard named Connor in Connor Williams, and naturally the questions started flowing on what this meant for the former Longhorn, but NFL Network’s Jane Slater quickly cleared that up:
