OXNARD, California – DeMarcus Lawrence signed a franchise tag on March 8, guaranteeing him $17.143 million with a July 16 deadline to sign a long-term deal.
That date passed without any real discussion between his agent and the Dallas Cowboys, but Lawrence is not upset or disappointed.
“I ain’t tripping,” he said. “What I got to trip for? It’s guaranteed.”
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell, who was given the franchise tag for the second straight year, is skipping training camp again after he wasn’t able to get a deal done.
