This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys lost their league leading rusher, running back DeMarco Murray, to the Philadelphia Eagles via free agency. The following day, the Cowboys signed veteran running back and former first round pick Darren McFadden. For many, at the time, it was a clear sign that McFadden was the heir apparent in Dallas.
But two hamstring injuries this offseason severely restricted McFadden’s acclimation to his new team. The result was third-year back Joseph Randle running unopposed for the starting role in Dallas. And last week’s regular season opener proved that as Randle started the game and received a majority of the rushing attempts.
