Dallas' Scandrick, future unclear, heading to IR

FRISCO, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick will be placed on injured reserve Friday, ending his season and possibly ending his time with the only team he has ever known.

A fifth-round pick in 2008, Scandrick has missed the past three games with two transverse process fractures in his back, and he was unlikely to play in Sunday's season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Scandrick is signed through 2019, but the Cowboys have turned to rookies Jourdan Lewis, Chidobe Awuzie and Xavier Woods as their top three cornerbacks since he has been hurt, with second-year cornerback Anthony Brown also playing a role.
