During the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys reportedly had an opportunity to trade for disgruntled Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas. But the Cowboys opted to use their second round selection to draft Texas offensive tackle Connor Williams instead. When Dallas attempted to offer a third rounder for Thomas, the Seahawks were unresponsive.
It appeared that the Cowboys lost their window to add a future Hall of Famer to their defensive secondary in exchange for Williams, who would start eight games at left guard last season before an injury led to him being replaced by the stronger Xavier Su’a-Filo.
