Dallas Cowboys sticking to original RB plan for replacing DeMarco Murray, at least for now

The vision the Dallas Cowboys had for replacing running back DeMarco Murray hasn’t changed much almost six months after the league-leading rusher bolted in free agency for a bigger payday in Philadelphia.

The Cowboys began making final cuts Friday as they trim their roster to the 53-man limit by the 3 p.m. Saturday deadline.

Not surprisingly, the Cowboys released running backs Gus Johnson and Ben Malena on Friday, sources said. The Cowboys also released fullback Ray Agnew.

That means Joseph Randle, Darren McFadden and Lance Dunbar still stand atop of the Cowboys’ running back depth chart just as they did the day Dallas added McFadden via free agency in mid-March.
