The Dallas Cowboys came out in the first half of this game trying to make a statement. After losing their last three games, the Cowboys needed a bounce-back victory heading into their Week Eight bye.
The Dallas defense started strong with linebacker Jaylon Smith and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence both forcing fumbles early on. Those takeaways would be converted into points by receiver Tavon Austin on a pitch from quarterback Dak Prescott and a rushing touchdown from running back Ezekiel Elliott.
But two personal foul penalties by Jaylon Smith and safety Xavier Woods would allow the Eagles to drive down the field for a touchdown and that’s how they would end the first quarter 14-7.
