When the Dallas Cowboys selected Connecticut defensive back Byron Jones in the first round 2015 NFL Draft, they did so with the intention of improving a passing defense that ranked a lowly 26th from the season before.
Although Jones was likely better suited to play safety, the Cowboys needs at cornerback forced the versatile athlete to fill that position during his rookie campaign. And by all accounts, his first season in Dallas was a rousing success.
Last year, the Cowboys looked to the 23-year old rookie to fill voids left by injured cornerback Orlando Scandrick and Morris Claiborne.
