Media analysts, draftniks and fans were left collectively scratched their heads when the Dallas Cowboys drafted San Diego State tight end Gavin Escobar in the second round (47th overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.
With several other more pressing needs across their roster, and a future Hall of Famer in his prime already cemented at the position in Jason Witten, the reach for Escobar seemed quite puzzling.
Four years later, Escobar is an absolute draft bust who wilted in the shadow of Witten during his time in Dallas. The now-free agent tight end recorded a total of 30 receptions for 333 yards and eight touchdowns in four seasons.
