The Cowboys are bringing back one of their former captains and special teams aces.
Safety Danny McCray signed a one-year deal Thursday.
McCray returns to Dallas after one season with the Chicago Bears. McCray will help fill the void left by Dwayne Harris, who led the Cowboys in special teams tackles in 2014 and signed with the New York Giants in March.
McCray will also reinforce a secondary that has only three other safeties who have played more than two NFL games — Barry Church, J.J. Wilcox and Jeff Heath.
McCray, who originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys in 2010, has appeared in 75 games during his career and started 10 of them.
