The Dallas Cowboys will start training camp practice later today without a potential starter in their linebacker corps. Former first round selection and veteran linebacker Keith Rivers announced his retirement on Thursday. The news comes as a bit of a surprise as Rivers played well this offseason and was a possible candidate to start at the strong side linebacker position for the Cowboys.
After being the 9th overall selection in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Cincinnati Bengals, the USC linebacker never lived up to expectations. That was mainly due to a laundry list of injuries and bad luck.
