Byron Jones was held out of Monday afternoon’s practice against St. Louis with a sprained joint in his left shoulder.
The team’s first round pick suffered the injury one day earlier when he inadvertently collided with cornerback Morris Claiborne when the two were attempting to cover a crossing pattern. He will be reassessed again Tuesday.
There was initial concern because that’s the same shoulder Jones hurt in October of his senior year at Connecticut that resulted in season-ending surgery. But Jones felt good enough Monday morning to take part in a special team’s walk-thru before being ruled out of the padded practice.
