At the scouting combine in February, Jerry Jones talked about how the Cowboys would do their due diligence at backup quarterback.
Fast-forward four months and Dallas has not signed a veteran or drafted a player at the position. All signs point to Brandon Weeden having the backup role for the second consecutive season.
Listening to Cowboys QB coach Wade Wilson last week, Weeden has helped his cause by making some significant improvements this offseason.
“I think he’s probably the most improved player,” Wilson said. “He has a greater understanding of the concepts, the protections, calling the plays, all those kinds of things.
