One of the more high profile position battles through training camp and preseason was between Anthony Brown and Jourdan Lewis for the starting slot cornerback job in nickel packages. There was a lot to consider, as both corners had seen their fair share of impressive play in the past.
Brown was a sixth round pick in 2016 and, due to injuries, was thrown into starting duties early on. He didn’t disappoint, and quickly became their full time starter with how well he performed. Entering the 2017 season, the front office had enough faith in Brown that they were comfortable letting go of both Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr.
