Cowboys make underrated move in keeping James Hanna

IRVING, Texas -- James Hanna has only 33 career receptions, but his value to the Dallas Cowboys lies in other spots.

On Friday the Cowboys re-signed Hanna to a three-year, $8.25 million deal that included a $2.5 million signing bonus, according to a source, to continue as the second tight end to Jason Witten.

With Gavin Escobar recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in the finale and likely to start the season on the physically unable to perform list, the Cowboys needed to keep Hanna, who visited the San Diego Chargers.
