The narrative around Dallas Cowboys kicker Brett Maher has taken on a new tone over the last few days; when you make a 63-yard field goal that can happen.
Brett Maher has his strengths and weaknesses as a kicker. He’s not great, but he’s a fine kicker. He’s generally reliable and honestly these days even that is a rarity in the NFL.
What Maher did against the Philadelphia Eagles was special and as a result he picked up some props for it in the process. Maher’s 63-yard field goal was his third field goal from over 60 yards out which means he’s the only player in NFL history to accomplish such a feat.
