ORLANDO, Fla. -- The biggest move made by the Dallas Cowboys so far this offseason has been keeping Pro Bowl defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence on the $17.143 million franchise tag.
That move keeps Lawrence, who had 14.5 sacks last season, on the books only for 2018 but there could be hope for a long-term deal after conversations between the club and his agent, David Canter, at the NFL owners meetings.
"I don't want to speculate on that because whether it be the competitiveness of it or just that it takes two to operate or have a deal, but certainly with the franchise tag, he's got a situation that's very attractive financially and we do too," Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones said.
