Cowboys had conversations with ESPN about what they could air during 90-minute special

OXNARD, Calif. — There are even more TV cameras than usual at today’s Cowboys training camp practice. ESPN is airing a live 90-minute special from their Oxnard, Calif. camp site.

Kenny Mayne, Jon Gruden and Darren Woodson will all be part of the coverage.

ESPN produce Jay Rothman said a couple weeks ago that he approached the Cowboys at the Super Bowl and got the final approval in June.

“Jerry Jones is terrific, he gets it,” Rothman told SportsDay’s Barry Horn. “And there’s no secret that with the Cowboys, the ratings are big.”

While NFL teams are extremely cautious about what they allow TV cameras to film during practice, Cowboys coach Jason Garrett says he trusts the folks at ESPN.
