Cowboys Give Safety Jeff Heath A Four-Year Contract

The Dallas Cowboys have been sniffing around free agent safeties and bringing safety prospects in for visits before the draft. But it was one of their own that got a contract today, reserve safety and special teams ace Jeff Heath was rewarded with a four-year contract. Heath was a restricted free agent that the Cowboys tendered at the lowest-level, $1.67 million for the upcoming year. That meant that if another team lured him away the Cowboys would have received no compensation. Instead, he's staying in Dallas.

"Obviously I'd be lying if I said there's not a little bit more security when you see more years on the end of your deal, but I'd be hurting myself if I thought I made it because that's not what got me to this point," Heath said.
