FRISCO, Texas -- This past Sunday the Dallas Cowboys had Jerome Boger as their referee, with his crew calling the most penalties per game. In their overtime win over the Philadelphia Eagles, the Cowboys had a season-high 11 penalties for 84 yards.
This week, the Cowboys will have Jeff Triplette as the referee when they take on the Cleveland Browns.
Triplette’s crew is coming off a bye, but through the first seven games of the season it was the third-most flag-happy staff in the NFL, averaging 19.6 penalties per game. Over the past three games, the Cowboys will have seen the officiating crews with the second (Brad Allen), first (Boger) and third (Triplette) most penalties called per game.
