Cowboys' defensive effort was important for one particular reason, and it could be a sign of things to come

ARLINGTON -- There's no way the football was going to roll out of bounds on Cowboys cornerback Jourdan Lewis. Absolutely no way.

Jacksonville quarterback Blake Bortles completed a pass to Keelan Cole near the visitor's sideline late in the third quarter Sunday, but linebacker Jaylon Smith poked it out of his hands. The football started bouncing, then slowly rolling toward the sideline.

"I knew I had to make a play," Lewis said. "I knew I had to go get it. We always talk about hustling to the ball. There was no way it was going to go out of bounds on me.
